It all started on a napkin. Next thing you know, the architect and the Iconography Committee were handing me a hard hat for touring the unfinished building to consult during the construction phase. Our goal was to create the best marriage possible between the architecture and the art (e.g. no vents where icons should be). Teamwork is the name of the game in Charlotte. In addition to our sons, parishioners joined us in all the phases. The most recently completed phase in St. Nektarios is the 14′ x 11′ apse of 13 Holy Unmercenary Saints with Christ and Panagia, gifted by those same doctors who started on that napkin 22 years prior.
